MANILA, Philippines—Up 12 against Terrafirma late, Blackwater was five minutes away from ending a league record losing streak on Saturday.

But the winless Bossing weren’t the only ones playing with an utter sense of urgency.

Just like Blackwater, Terrafirma is also trying to find its footing with only a win to show in its first five games of the PBA Governors’ Cup.

“They are not the only team desperate for a win,” said Dyip import Antonio Hester.

That desperation showed as Hester anchored his team’s spirited rally.

Back against the wall, Terrafirma responded with 18 unanswered points to take the lead and hold on to a 109-103 victory.

“We’re in the same position as them. We’re working hard just like any other team. It may not show in the beginning, but since the break we’ve been progressing as a team, being together and working. I think it showed tonight,” Hester said.

Hester fired 14 of his game-high 41 points in the final five minutes. He also had 13 rebounds, three assists and three steals.

Terrafirma, which sent Blackwater to its 25th consecutive loss, also got a big lift from Joshua Munzon, who scored 13 points in his first game back from a hand injury.
