ONE: Jeremy Miado has mixed feelings heading into big fight vs Lito Adiwang
MANILA, Philippines—Jeremy Miado has mixed emotions ahead of his crucial fight in ONE X on March 26.
On one hand, Miado is revved up to be part of ONE Championship’s 10th-year anniversary event. But on the other, Miado will be going up against a compatriot in Team Lakay’s Lito Adiwang.
“This means so much for me as an athlete because I will be part of a historic card like this alongside some of the big names here at ONE,” Miado said.
“It’s surprising to me because I will fight another Filipino. We are both fighting and hoisting our country’s flag,” he added.
It won’t be Miado’s first time fighting another Filipino having lost to Robin Catalan in 2017.
But a lot has changed since then. Miado (10-4) is currently 2-0 with his last two fights ending in knockouts over China’s Miao Li Tao.
Adiwang, meanwhile, has split his last four fights although he remains one of the most dangerous fighters in the flyweight division.
“I have so much respect for Adiwang, especially as he’s a fellow Filipino, but I believe we will give it our all and not take this personally,” he said.
“Expect the unexpected. We’re both explosive strikers and I know that Lito will also do everything to prepare for this match of ours,” an excited Miado said.
