MANILA, Philippines—Chinese team Bay Area Chun Yu Phoenixes is set to join the PBA in the next Governors’ Cup as a guest club.

Bay Area Chun Yu will also take part in the East Asia Super League where it would play against the top teams from the PBA as the Greater China representative once the continental league commences in October 2022.

While the team already has a coach, it has yet to make a formal announcement.

PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial said the PBA Board already approved of Bay Area Chun Yu’s inclusion into the import conference for next season.

“Whether we will be 11 or 12 teams by that time, the Phoenixes will be our guest team for the Governors’ Cup,” said Marcial, as per PBA.ph.

The PBA is no stranger to having Asian players in its season as players from Korea, Taiwan, Japan, Jordan, Syria, Mongolia, and Palestine playing in the 2015 Governors’ Cup.
