MANILA, Philippines—Phoenix has brought in a new reinforcement in hopes for a much-needed push for a playoff run.
Losers of three in a row, the Fuel Masters tapped the services of Du’Vaughn Maxwell to replace Dominique Sutton with only two games left in their elimination round campaign.
“Sutton was good but with record of 1-3 under him, we are looking for someone who can be a better fit with system and locals of this team,” team manager Paolo Bugia told INQUIRER.net Tuesday.
Maxwell will make his debut against Alaska on Thursday.
Phoenix is just half a game ahead of NorthPort for the eighth and final playoff spot.
Unlike Phoenix, NorthPort is on a roll having won three in a row including victories over top teams Magnolia and Meralco.
The Batang Pier also have a lighter schedule as compared to the Fuel Masters.
