Alex Eala advances to W25 Joue les Tour main draw

MANILA, Philippines—Tennis ace Alex Eala eased into the main draw of the W25 Joue les Tour in France.
The promising Filipino posted a pair of quick qualifying victories against Anna Ozerova of Latvia and Fabienne Gettwart of Germany.
Eala handily beat Ozerova, 6-0, 6-1, on Sunday then, breezed through Gettwart to secure her spot in the main field.
The 16-year-old Eala plays home bet Jenny Lim in the opening round of the draw on Wednesday.
Eala hopes to finally go on a deep run this time after suffering a string of early exits to begin his season.
Less than a week ago, Eala took a first-round loss to Russia’s Anna Ukolova in the W25 Macon championship also in France.
