NBA: Lakers sign veteran guard DJ Augustin
Hoping to find a spark to their flickering season, the Los Angeles Lakers signed veteran guard DJ Augustin and forward Wenyen Gabriel to a two-way contract, the NBA announced Wednesday (Manila time).
The Lakers, who are in the ninth spot in the Western Conference, waived former All-Star DeAndre Jordan and Sekou Doumbouya to create roster spots for both Augustin and Gabriel.

Augustin, who is in his 14th season in the league, appeared in 34 games for the Houston Rockets this season where he averaged 5.4 points on 40 percent shooting from three in 15 minutes.
He has career averages of 9.6 points, 1.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 955 games played.
Article continues after this advertisementGarbriel, meanwhile, played seven games for the Clippers and Brooklyn Nets this season averaging 6.0 points and 2.1 rebounds in less than seven minutes an outing.
The Lakers (27-33), who remain without their injured star big man Anthony Davis, dropped another close game on Wednesday, losing to the Dallas Mavericks, 109-104, in a game where they came back from 21 down before falling short late.
The Lakers have lost three in a row.
