Francis Casey Alcantara and Alex Eala got off to big starts this week after carving out lopsided wins in tournaments in Egypt and France, respectively.

Alcantara made the men’s doubles quarterfinals of the M15 Sharm El Sheikh along with Canadian partner Kelsey Stevenson in the Filipino’s first foray in the 2022 season.

The 30-year-old Alcantara and Stevenson, seeded second, bundled out Italians Marco Miceli and Roberto Miceli, 6-2, 6-1, in the opening round of the hard court meet played outdoors.

Eala, meanwhile, made it to the main draw of the W25 Joue les Tours where she is set to clash with local bet Jenny Lim in the opening round late Wednesday.

The 16-year-old Eala, trying to earn her stripes as she hurdles qualifying rounds, breezed past two opponents to get to the main draw, defeating Latvia’s Anna Ozerova, 6-0, 6-1, and Germany’s Fabienne Gettman, 6-2, 6-0, to set the opening-round duel with the 17-year-old French who is ranked 1,595th in the world.
