MANILA, Philippines–Miles away from home, Dindin Santiago-Manabat has all the reasons to stay motivated and stave off home sickness in her second overseas stint.
In an interview with One Sports’ The Game, Santiago-Manabat said that it’s her husband Chico and daughter Chloe Sapphire who push her to be the best player she can be for Nakhon Ratchasima in the Thailand League.
“Of course my secret to stay motivated is my family,” said Santiago-Manabat in Filipino. “They watch my games and I always want to make sure that every time I play I perform well.”
“You can’t be sad here, so that’s why I have to come up with ways to get inspired and of course I always look forward to being with my daughter once again after this.”
The 6-foot-2 wing spiker said she always thinks of her daughter whenever she steps on the court and that inspiration helped Santiago-Manabat to always put her best foot forward.
The Devil Cat has a legitimate chance to win the 2021-22 title and the club is set to face Diamond Food in their semifinals series.
“I have to be stronger because when my daughter watches my games she’ll say ‘oh that’s my mom!’” said Santiago-Manabat, who plays with Chery Tiggo teammate Mylene Paat.
“In the near future I want my daughter to be proud of me.”
