MANILA, Philippines–Much of the hype surrounding the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) will center on newcomer F2 Logistics—for a reason.
The team has built a culture of success in the Philippine Superliga, with five titles in a period spanning 2016 and 2019. Whether the Cargo Movers can replicate their trophy-devouring ways in a league where all the stars of the sport have finally converged is the raging subplot of a tournament that will be done in a jiffy.
“For the longest time, we played in a different league,” said F2 Logistics captain Aby Maraño. “But at least, all the teams are now in one league and we get to compete against players with varying talent and skills.”
The first such tournament featuring top volleyball players under one roof ended with Chery Tiggo emerging champions after dismissing Creamline in the finals last year.
And F2 Logistics will be fielding as deep a roster as the Crossovers and the Cool Smashers, but one hardened by unmatched cohesion and chemistry.
Maraño will spearhead a Cargo Movers crew that includes longtime teammates Majoy Baron, Kianna Dy, Ara Galang, Tin Tiamzon, Kim Fajardo and Dawn Macandili when they face Black Mamba-Army at the start of the 2022 Open Conference at 3 p.m. at Paco Arena.
“This is very special since this is my first time to compete here after so many years. But what makes it extra special is that I am with F2,” said Maraño. —WITH A REPORT FROM LANCE AGCAOILI
