MANILA, Philippines–Petrogazz took advantage of an F2 Logistics that lost its steam in the endgame, hacking out a 25-14, 22-25, 25-20, 25-19, Tuesday night to complete the semifinal cast in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at FilOil Flying V Arena.

Jonah Sabete and Grethcel Soltones kept knocking in hits for the Angels, throwing off the usually tough Cargo Movers’ defense and getting through the Final Four.

They will battle unbeaten Cignal in the best-of-three semifinals that start on Friday. They joined Choco Mucho which earlier won to arrange its own semis encounter against Creamline.

With no solid scoring threat in the absence of Kalei Mau, the Cargo Movers tried to keep up but in the fourth, when Sabete, Soltones and Myla Pablo were making their move — putting a 19-14 spread — the 2021 Champions League champions simply crumbled.

“Maybe it was our attacks that did it,” said Sabete who made 18 points. “It’s our defense, and the passes. We know F2 to have powerful serves so it’s important that we get a good first ball.”

The Angels overwhelmed the Cargo Movers, 21-10, in attacks in the third set. They had a total of 67 attacks against the losing clubs’ 39.
