B.League: Kiefer’s Shiga, Thirdy’s San-en continue slide

MANILA, Philippines — Brothers Kiefer and Thirdy Ravena absorbed separate heartbreaking defeats in Japan B.League on Wednesday.

Kiefer and the Shiga Lakestars went from hero to lemon as Shiga Lakestars suffered their 13th straight defeat at the hands of Gunma Crane Thunders, 83-84, at Ota City Sports Park Civic Gymnasium.

The 28-year-old guard delivered 17 points, seven assists, four rebounds, and three steals and sparked his team’s fourth quarter rally.

Ravena sparked a 16-6 run to erase a seven-point deficit and gave Shiga an 83-80 breather down the stretch

Trey Jones scored four straight points to give Gunma an 84-83 lead with three seconds left. Ravena attempted a potential game-winning jumper but he missed as his team dropped to 10-30.

Michael Parker led Gunma with 22 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks to snap a three-game skid to improve to 17-21. Justin Keenan chipped in 19 markers, eight rebounds, and eight assists, while Jones added 17.

Sean O’Mara powered Shiga with 27 points and 10 rebounds in another loss.

Meanwhile, Thirdy and the San-en NeoPhoenix absorbed a 65-91 blowout to the Shimane Susanoo Magic at Toyohashi City Gymnasium.

The younger Ravena was limited to six points, two rebounds, and one assist as San-En dropped its third straight game, falling to 8-34 card. Max Hisatake carried San-En with 20 points, 18 rebounds and two steals.

Nick Kay showed the way for Shimane with 19 points, six assists, five rebounds, and two steals, while Perrin Buford and Nyika Williams delivered 16 apiece as they improved to 34-10.
