NCAA: Ambohot stars as Letran dominates Mapua

MANILA, Philippines–In a dominant show of force, Letran imposed its full might on Mapua, 80-60, to remain unbeaten in the NCAA Season 97 men’s basketball at La Salle Greenhills Gym.

The win was a big statement for the defending champion Knights who pulled off the rout at the expense of the erstwhile unbeaten Cardinals. Letran improved to 4-0, while Mapua fell to 3-1.

It took Letran a short time to tear the game apart, leading, 20-12, after the first quarter which saw Knight Louie Sanggalang getting thrown out midway through the period after throwing the ball at Cardinal Warren Bonifacio.

Mapua guard Adrain Nocum sprained an ankle later in the quarter denying the Cardinals of their top playmaker and scorer for most of the game.

Six-foot-7 slot man Jeo Ambohot lorded it over for the Knights with 16 points and 12 rebounds, while rookie Rhenz Abando fired 14 including a slam-dunk that drew a foul early in the fourth to give Letran a 72-46 spread.
