NCAA: St. Benilde extends win streak, beats Perpetual

MANILA, Philippines—College of St. Benilde downed University of Perpetual Help, 83-73, Saturday to continue its winning ways in the NCAA Season 97 men’s basketball tournament at La Salle Greenhills Gym.

Miguel Corteza came off the bench to score 24 points as the Blazers extended their streak to four games.

Corteza hit a short jumper to break Perpetual’s six unanswered points for a 79-71 buffer for the Blazers, who improved their record to 4-1. The Altas slumped to 2-3.

St. Benilde led by as many as 22 points at the half, 46-24, through Cortez and Robi Nayve but the Altas kept coming back through Kim Aurin, Jeff Egan and Jielo Razon.
