MANILA, Philippines–Scottie Thompson’s indefatigable play in the PBA Governors’ Cup earned him another accolade on Friday night.

The Barangay Ginebra guard, who was recently hailed Best Player of the Conference, was adjudged the Finals Most Valuable Player, just moments after the Gin Kings successfully defended their title against Meralco with a 103-92 victory at Mall of Asia Arena.

“I thank the Lord for giving us this,” said Thompson. “I also want to thank our coaching staff, especially coach Tim [Cone] for trusting us players and our veterans who were there to guide us. Everyone in our team, even our rookies, stepped up.”

Thompson averaged 17.8 points, 8.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists over the course of six games.

This is Thompson’s second Finals MVP after winning the same award during the 2018 Commissioner’s Cup.
