INDIANAPOLIS – Tamika Catchings scored 16 points to help the Indiana Fever defeat the New York Liberty 91-68 on Saturday night.
Roneeka Hodges scored 15 points, Jeanette Pohlen added 12 and Katie Douglas had 11 for Indiana (4-0). The Fever made 13 of 26 3-pointers while New York made 5 of 17. The Fever made 22 of 27 free throws and committed just 12 turnovers.
Plenette Pierson scored 24 points on 10-for-13 shooting for the Liberty (0-5). Cappie Pondexter, New York’s leading scorer, finished with 13 points on 4-for-15 shooting. Pierson and Pondexter were the only Liberty players to score in double figures.
New York’s past four losses have all been by double digits, by a combined 82 points. The teams play again Sunday at New York.
Sky 94, Dream 92, OT
At Atlanta, Epiphanny Prince hit a 3-pointer at the end of regulation and scored eight of her career-high 33 points in overtime to help Chicago beat Atlanta.
Angel McCoughtry went 17 of 17 from the free-throw line and finished with a season-high 33 points for Atlanta.
The Sky, who trailed by 22 in the first quarter and led by 10 early in the fourth, have won three straight.
Atlanta has lost two of three. The Dream were outrebounded 48-23.
Sylvia Fowles added 20 points with 19 rebounds for the Sky, who overcame 26 turnovers that resulted in 25 Atlanta points.
Fowles’ three-point play with 3:38 left in the third gave Chicago its first lead since early in the first.
