MANILA, Philippines-Filipino athletes have begun to make their way to Vietnam for the 31st Southeast Asian Games.

The Philippine kickboxing team and the men’s beach handball squad left for Hanoi on Monday.

Team Lakay standouts like former ONE featherweight champion Honorio Banario and Gina Iniong banner the national kickboxing team, which is mentored by Team Lakay headmaster Mark Sangiao.

The Filipino kickboxers won six medals in the previous SEA Games in Manila. Jerry Olsim, Gina Iniong and Jean Claude Saclag won gold medals in their respective events.

The team held a bubble camp in Benguet for its Hanoi SEA Games buildup.

The PH men’s handball team aims for another podium finish in Hanoi after bagging the bronze medal in 2019.

The chunk of the 656-strong PH delegation is expected to leave for Hanoi on May 10.
