MANILA, Philippines—Far Eastern University scraped past University of the East, 19-25, 25-15, 25-20, 17-25, 15-10, for its first win in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball tournament at Mall of Asia Arena.

Chen Tagaod fired a game-high 20 points, including four during a key 8-0 surge in the fifth set after the Lady Tamaraws fell behind, 5-8.

“We saw how much the girls wanted to win but I told them it won’t be easy because we’re in a transition period,” said FEU head coach George Pascua in Filipino.

“At the end of the day, we have a possibility to win as long as we work together.”

FEU won after opening its campaign with losses to University of Santo Tomas and University of the Philippines.

The Lady Red Warriors dropped to 0-3 despite Janeca Lana and Ercae Nieva combining for 39 points.
