MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine women’s beach volleyball team regained its winning ways, venting its ire on Vietnam on Wednesday in the 31st Southeast Asian Games at Tuan Chau Beach in Vietnam.

Licking their wounds after their heartbreaking defeat to reigning silver medalist Indonesia less than 24 hours ago, Sisi Rondina and Bernadeth Pons took down home players Vu Ngoc Lan Nguyen and Nguyen Le Thi Tuong Vy with a masterful 21-16, 21-12 victory.

Jovelyn Gonzaga and Dij Rodriguez edged out Truong Duong My Huyen and Nguyen Thi Thanh Tram in a tight second set encounter to complete the sweep with a 21-13, 22-20 conquest.

The women’s beach volleyball team improved to 3-1 record after Rondina and Pons lost the golden match to Indonesia on Tuesday.

Pons and Rondina and Gonzaga and Rodriguez end their single round robin stint against defending champion Thailand on Thursday at 3:45 p.m. (Manila time).
