Sibol delivered the Philippines’ second esports medal in the 31st Southeast Asian Games on Friday afternoon after a gutsy victory over powerhouse Indonesia in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang event.
The Filipinos, comprised of Blacklist International’s key cogs, defeated their fancied rivals, 3 games to 1, at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, Vietnam, successfully defending Sibol’s crown.
A sneaky wipeout courtesy of newcomer Howard “Owl” Gonzales in Game 4 sealed Sibol’s conquest of veteran-laden side that many thought would end the Philippines’ reign in the showcase.
Backstopping the gutsy newcomer are grizzled veterans Jonmar “OhMyV33NUS” Villaluna and James “Wise” Del Rosario, Kyle Dominic “Dominic.” Soto, Lee Howard “Owl” Gonzales, Salic “Hadji” Imam, Russel Aaron “Eyon” Usi, Dexter Louise “DEX STAR” C. Alaba, Aniel “Master the Basics” Jiandani, with Krisstoffer “BON CHAN” Ricaplaza serving as coach.
Sibol’s ML:BB squad joins the women’s Wild Rift crew that won the gold over Singapore late Wednesday night.
