MANILA, Philippines—Alyssa Valdez came through with 33 points to help Ateneo down University of Santo Tomas—25-16, 22-25, 25-20, 28-26—and forge a deciding Game 3 in their 9th Shakey’s V-League First Conference championship series at the Arena in San Juan city.
Valdez had 22 kills, eight aces and a block for the Lady Eagles, who came back from a 15-20 deficit in the second set.
The Tigresses looked poised to extend the match to a fifth set when it reached set-point, 24-23, following a violation by Valdez.
Ateneo, though, rallied once again capped by an Ella de Jesus spike to seal the game.
Game three will be on Sunday at 4 p.m. in the same venue.
