SEA Games: Phillip Delarmino gets muay gold after successful protest
MANILA, Philippines—The Philippines’ last gold medal in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in Vietnam came unexpectedly, but rightfully so.
After initially finishing with the silver medal in men’s muay 57kg event, Phillip Delarmino was ultimately awarded with the gold after the decision was reversed late Sunday night.

“HOME – COURT ADVANTAGE DENIED! Phillip “El Kapitan” Delarmino (Phillip Delarmino) bagged the GOLD MEDAL after a clear win in the 57kg Men’s Category against the crowd favorite Nguyen Doan Long of Vietnam with the final score 29-28,” Muaythai Association of the Philippines posted on social media.

This was Delarmino’s second straight gold medal in the biennial meet. He also won the same event in 2019.
