PBA: Aaron Black signs two-year extension with Meralco Bolts
MANILA, Philippines — Aaron Black has signed a contract extension with the Meralco Bolts ahead of the 47th PBA Season.
According to the 25-year-old’s handler Espiritu Manotoc Basketball Management (EMBM), Black inked a two-year extension.
“Humbled by the opportunities the man up high has put in front of me,” Black wrote on Instagram.”This game has truly been a blessing. Looking forward to the years ahead with (the Meralco Bolts).”
The Ateneo standout, who was drafted 18th overall in the 2019 PBA Rookie Draft, proved his worth to Meralco by winning the Outstanding Rookie award in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup bubble.
Black played his best conference so far in the 2021-22 PBA Governors’ Cup where he averaged 9.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 2.4 assists in 26.5 minutes per game.
The son of Meralco coach Norman Black stepped up in the finals, where he averaged 16.8 points as the team’s top local scorer only to lose the Governors’ Cup crown to Barangay Ginebra in six games.
Black and the Bolts return to action when the new PBA season tips off on June 5.
