MANILA, Philippines — ONE strawweight champion Joshua Pacio’s title defense against Jarred Brooks, the supposed main event of ONE: 158 on June 3 at Singapore Indoor Stadium, will not be pushing through.
Team Lakay coach Mark Sangiao announced that Pacio’s fight against former UFC star Brooks has been postponed.
“The originally scheduled match between Joshua Pacio and Jarred Brooks for the ONE Strawweight World Title has unfortunately been postponed due to a scheduling conflict,” Sangiao posted on Facebook on Thursday.
ONE Championship has yet to release an official statement about the postponement of Pacio’s title defense.
Pacio has won his last four fights including a first-round technical knockout over the fifth-ranked Yosuke Saruta of Japan last September.
Brooks, who joined ONE Championship October last year, dominated his first three fights, submitting Team Lakay’s Lito Adiwang in Round 2 during his debut last November 2021, then beating Hiroba Minowa via unanimous decision before his technical knockout victory over former top-ranked strawweight Bokang Masunyane last month.
Team Lakay’s Jenelyn Olsim will still see action in the card, facing Brazilian Julie Mezabarba.
