Two-time NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic has confirmed his long-term commitment to the Denver Nuggets and plans to sign a $260 million supermax extension this summer, The Athletic reported Friday.

There had been some concern about the 27-year-old center’s future in Denver following last week’s departure of former general manager Tim Connelly to lead the Minnesota Timberwolves’ front office.

Jokic won his second straight MVP award in 2021-22 after averaging 27.1 points, 13.8 rebounds, 7.9 assists and 1.47 steals in 74 games.

He led the NBA with 19 triple-doubles and became the first player in NBA history to record at least 2,000 points, 1,000 rebounds and 500 assists in a season.

A second-round pick by Denver in 2014, the four-time All-Star has career averages of 19.7 points, 10.4 rebounds and 6.2 assists in 527 games (486 starts).
