MANILA—Quezon City dismissed Caloocan, 92-83, to clinch the first finals berth in the 2nd Coca-Cola Hoopla National Capital Region Championship late Tuesday, but its opponent in the best-of-three title showdown still to be settled.
Taguig and Antipolo were to play a knockout match late last night to determine which team faces the Quezon City cagers for the crown.
Taguig forged the KO battle with a tight 84-80 victory over Antipolo also late Tuesday. Game One of the final kicks off tomorrow.
Assistant mentor Ernie Baena, elder brother of head coach Rene, called the shots for Quezon City, which took a 76-61 lead en route to the victory.
The win was QC’s fourth win in the Inter-Zonal and 10th overall in the grassroots league for non-varsity players.
