UAAP volleyball: UST books Final Four with win over UE

MANILA, Philippines-University of Santo Tomas encountered a first-set hustle from University of the East before pulling off a 26-24, 25-18, 25-19 win to assure itself of a Final Four spot in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball at Mall of Asia Arena.
The Tigresses started slow and fought off a set point against the nothing-to-lose Lady Warriors to score their second straight win for a 9-4 record.
That’s all it took for UST to make the semifinals along with unbeaten National University and La Salle.
UE was trying to play a spoiler’s role and gave UST scares even in the second set where it took the second technical timeout at 16-15.
But the Tigresses stood their ground from then on and dealt the Lady Warriors their 13th defeat in as many games this season.
