Headbutt, not punch, worries Roach

LAS VEGAS—For renowned trainer Freddie Roach, Timothy Bradley’s most potent weapon is his head, not his hands.

Roach scoffed at Bradley’s insinuations that he’s going to hurt Pacquiao.

“He (Bradley) can’t punch,” Roach reiterated to the media Tuesday (Wednesday in Manila). “All that muscle and he can’t punch.”

The 52-year-old Roach, who’ll be inducted into the boxing Hall of Fame on June 10, a day after the Pacquiao-Bradley duel for the WBO welterweight, said that Bradley’s aggressiveness will be his downfall and the key to being stopped by Pacquiao.

Roach was more apprehensive of an upheaval that took place in Team Pacquiao. Ignoring Roach’s suggestion, Pacquiao let conditioning expert Alex Ariza serve as one of his cornermen on fight night, but not as cutman.

“We know what our jobs are,” said Roach. “He (Ariza) will be in the corner but he will not be the cut man.”
