MANILA, Philippines–University of the East finally captured its first victory beating Far Eastern University, 25-22, 22-25, 25-21, 25-21, Thursday in the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball at Mall of Asia Arena.

It was the Lady Warriors’ first win in 17 matches — including three in the aborted Season 82 — which should boost the morale of the team that underwent massive overhaul during the long pre-season.

Ercae Darabella Nieva took some of the scoring chores from UE top gunner Janeca Janine Lana, scoring 21 points for her career best showing. Lana also wound up finishing with 21 markers including the match-clinching hit.

The Lady Tamaraws lost their 11th straight and ended the season with a 1-13 record tying the Lady Warriors.
