Barely three days removed from his Asian championship conquest, Carlos Yulo will be back on the mat to continue sharpening his skills and devising a plot for the biggest gathering in artistic gymnastics this year.
Yulo just accomplished a triple golden feat in the ninth Senior Artistic Gymnastics Asian Championships in Doha, Qatar, as the 4-foot-11 Filipino dynamo confirmed his elite status in the continent.
“I’m thankful for this God-given gift and I also thank all the people who helped me become what I am and those who supported me. This is for the country,’’ said Yulo, who arrived late on Sunday evening and went home to his family in Manila.
Yulo ruled the men’s floor exercise, vault and parallel bars.
“These medals have motivated me to do better. I will push myself to train harder and prepare for my next tournament,’’ said Yulo.
The succeeding meet which Yulo will be bracing for is the 2022 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships at Liverpool Arena in Liverpool, United Kingdom, from Oct. 26 to Nov. 6.
“I’m looking forward to the world championships. The competition will be much tougher out there,’’ said Yulo, who qualified to the Liverpool worlds with his medal performance in the Asian meet. INQ
