Alex Eala becomes highest ranked Southeast Asian in WTA

MANILA, Philippines—Alex Eala soared to her highest standing yet in the latest WTA rankings.

Eala soared to No. 340, jumping 73 spots from 413 just a week ago.

The Filipino tennis ace continued her rise after a runner-up finish in the W60 Madrid competition.

At 340th, Eala is now the highest-ranking Southeast Asian women’s tennis player.

The 17-year-old Eala is set to compete in the W25 Open Generali Ciudad de Palma de Rio in Spain which begins on June 27.

Eala is looking to add a third ITF title in the pro circuit after winning the W25 Chiang Rai tournament last April.
