MANILA, Philippines—EJ Obiena won his latest pole vault gold medal this year on Sunday (Manila time).
Obiena came out on top with a 5.80-meter clearance in the Jump and Fly meet in Hechingen, Germany.
After securing the gold, Obiena went for a new personal best but failed on three tries at 5.94m.
The golden showing was also a bounce-back performance by Obiena, who was coming off a sixth-place finish in the Diamond League in Stockholm, Sweden.
Obiena, 26, claimed his sixth gold medal of the year and his second in less than a week.
The Tokyo Olympian, who recently regained his full strength after testing positive for COVID-19, captured the gold in his return to action at the Taby Stavhoppsgala in Sweden after soaring past 5.92m earlier this week.
