Angelo Que announced his return to the Philippine Golf Tour in a loud way on Tuesday, gunning down six birdies in a five-under-par 67 to be in a three-way lead atop the P2-million ICTSI Eagle Ridge at Aoki Invitational in General Trias, Cavite.

Playing locally for the first time in more than a year, the Japan Tour veteran stood out in the marquee group that included Juvic Pagunsan and Guido van der Valk of The Netherlands, as a 33-34 effort put him in a tie with Jonel Ababa and Zannie Boy Gialon.

“Still missed a few putts but drove it really well,” said Que, who dropped a shot on the par-3 seventh which ended a run of four birdies in the last five holes. “The greens are very tricky.”

Pagunsan, who demolished a pro-am field at Manila Southwoods by 11 shots over a week ago, was working on a four-under card before disaster struck on No. 13, where he signed for a triple-bogey 7 on the way to a 71, the same score submitted by Van Der Valk, the champion last month at Splendido.

“Everything went well, except for my driving,” Pagunsan said as an errant drive off the 13th mound coupled with a three-putt resulted in that triple. INQ
