Filipinas crush Singapore for solo lead in AFF Women’s Championship

MANILA, Philippines–The Philippines delivered an emphatic 7-0 win over Singapore on Wednesday to seize the lead in Group A of the AFF Women’s Championship at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Six players got themselves on the scoresheet as the Filipinas encountered little trouble against the Singaporean side to register their second win in as many matches in the regional championship.

Isabella Flanigan, Tahnai Annis and Sarina Bolden scored in the first half before Sara Eggesvik, Kaya Hawkinson and Anicka Castaneda padded the Philippines’ advantage after the restart.

Coach Alen Stajcic’s squad climbed to the top of the group after matchday two with six points, two clear of Thailand after its 2-2 draw against Australia earlier in the day.
