MANILA, Philippines–College of Saint Benilde moved within a win of securing an outright Finals berth following a 25-14, 25-12, 25-18 romp of University of Perpetual Help in the NCAA Season 97 women’s volleyball on Wednesday.

The Lady Blazers seek to jump straight to the best-of-three championship round with a victory against titleholder Arellano on Saturday.

A win by the Lady Blazers over the Lady Chiefs will make the Final Four into a step-ladder format.

Jade Gentapa, though, knows they cannot fall into a trap of complacency after extending their perfect run to eight matches.

“Our biggest opponent right now is ourselves,” said Gentapa, who had a match-best 15 points, in Filipino.

Mycah Go had nine points, 12 digs and five receptions for St. Benilde, while Gayle Pascual had two service aces to also finish with nine points.

Letran, meanwhile, swept Mapua, 25-17, 25-21, 25-18, to end a three-match losing skid.

Juls Castro had 19 points, 16 digs and four receptions for the Lady Knights while, Cha Cuñada provided solid contributions with 14 points and 14 digs. Shereena Urmeneta chipped in 11 points.

Letran, which was eliminated from Final Four contention last week, improved to 2-6.
