Rose Jean Ramos remained invincible in the youth division and showed her ability of seamlessly transitioning into the junior ranks with aplomb at the Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The reigning three-time world champion of the women’s youth 45 kilograms simply went through the motions of sweeping the three gold medals in the snatch (70kgs) and clean and jerk (83kgs) for a 153-kg total.
Vietnam’s Thi Hoai Nguyen just couldn’t keep up with Ramos, settling for the silver in the snatch (66kgs) and the total (146kgs) after pulling off an 80 in the clean and jerk.
Dalvi Soumya of India rallied in the clean and jerk by placing second (82kgs) to wind up third in the total (145kgs).
It was the farewell stint of Ramos in the youth division (13-17 years old), which the Zamboanga City lifter dominated in the worlds since 2020 in Peru before ruling it again in 2021 Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and last month in 2022 Leon, Mexico.
The 17-year-old Ramos showed her worth in the junior division (17 to 20 years old) of her weight class, pocketing the gold in the snatch with a 70 before placing third in the clean and jerk (83kgs) that led to a second-ranked finish in the total (153).
Sharad Garud Harshada of India gave up the snatch behind Ramos, but bounced back mightily in the clean and jerk (88kgs), bringing her to victory with an unassailable total of 157kgs.
Overall, Ramos collected four gold medals, one silver and a bronze in the Asian champs a day after Angeline Colonia broke the world and Asian youth records in the snatch of the women’s youth 40kg category to seize two gold medals and a silver.
