MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. has appointed bowling icon Olivia “Bong” Coo as one of the commissioners of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), Malacañang confirmed on Wednesday.

“The Office of the Executive Secretary through Press Secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles confirms the appointment of Olivia Garcia ‘Bong’ Coo as Commissioner of the Philippine Sports Commission,” a statement from the Office of the Press Secretary said.

Coo was recently elected as Philippine Bowling Federation president. Prior to this, she was a coach and a physical education instructor.

Coo is also the chairwoman of the Women in Sports Commission of the Philippine Olympic Committee.

The 74-year-old was named one of the Greatest International Bowlers of All-Time by the Bowlers Journal International.
