The events in partnership with the Pilipinas Obstacle Sports Federation (POSF) are the Ninja World Cup No. 1 by World Obstacle and the New Fifth Discipline Test Event (Obstacle Discipline) by the International Modern Pentathlon Union (UIPM). Both events will happen on August 6 and 7 at the Bridgetowne Central Park.
The Ninja World Cup is a speed event where athletes or Ninjas will have to conquer 12 obstacles in a 100-meter linear course. The 12 obstacles are, from first to last, the Ascending Steps, Rope Swing, Ring Slide, Fly Wheels, Dancing Stones, Wheels, Wall Flip, Rings, Tilting Ladders, 1.5m Wall, Pole Grasper and Tsunami Wall. The Philippines will be the host of the first leg while the second leg will be in Westfield, IN, USA.
The second test of the Modern Pentathlon’s New Fifth Discipline Test Event (Obstacle Discipline) under UIPM shall be organized in parallel to the Ninja World Cup 1. The international governing body of modern pentathlon recently announced the decision to conduct test events for the fifth event to replace horse riding, one of the five disciplines that include fencing, swimming, laser pistol shooting and running.
“Bridgetowne’s expansive spaces and roads make it conducive to outdoor sports such as Obstacle Course Races (OCR) – there is plenty of space to set-up the obstacles, biking, running and more, making it a great and safe place for families, young and old alike, if they’re looking for active fun, sports and adventure,” says Loise Albert Montes, Senior Development Director for Bridgetowne.
Inspiring Inclusivity and Conquering Obstacles
The Ninja World Cup is open to all—whether you’re an elite obstacle racer, a para-athlete, an individual as young as 13 years old or a senior. In line with POSF’s mission of “obstacle sports for all, everywhere,” and “building better humans,” this sports event hopes to inspire the community to conquer obstacles and promote inclusivity with this sports-for-all initiative catering to all age-groups, from youth to masters, and athletes with and without disabilities.
Bridgetowne’s strategic location at the heart of the city makes it an excellent venue for these two international obstacle sports events. Its accessibility makes it extremely convenient and open to everyone who would want to join or watch these world-class competitions.
The Rise of the World’s Biggest Obstacle Sports Park
Two courses, side-by-side of each other, will be set up for these 2 events. The two events will be staged beside the future Bridgetowne Obstacle Park. This 6,000 square meter park with 25 obstacles shall be the biggest permanent obstacle facility of its kind in the world. The Park, slated to open this September, shall accommodate training sessions and obstacle course races managed by certified coaches and national and elite athletes. This Park, operated by POSF, is an important part of its Obstacle Sports-for-All-Everywhere initiative.
POSF President Atty. Alberto Agra narrates how the federation has been around for over five years but they were already able to set about 50 firsts in the world— from setting the Guinness World Records in OCR 100m in the male and female categories last April; dominating the field in the World Highest OCR in Mount Kilimanjaro last year; and now for the inaugural Ninja World Cup No. 1 event and the soon-to-open Bridgetowne Obstacle Park. “Notwithstanding the pandemic, the POSF has set firsts. So, whether it’s coaches’ development, para development, LGBTQIA projects, obstacle facilities, events, we’re trailblazing.”
Igniting the Winning Spirit and Bridging Connections
For Senior Vice-President and General Manager of Robinsons Integrated Developments Division Mybelle Aragon-GoBio, Bridgetowne and POSF’s “mutual advocacy on winning, resilience, and the value of conquering obstacles” binds this exciting partnership. “With Bridgetowne’s proposition of being a destination that ignites the winning spirit and bridges powerful and meaningful connections that let you win at work and in life, there is no better place to do the Ninja World Cup and the biggest obstacle sports park but here,” she adds. Agra adds how this partnership is a testament to how sports is valued by the destination estate by allocating a piece of property for these word-class events.
Apart from this partnership, Bridgetowne is preparing a host of meaningful activities and attractions that people can look forward to, events that are not only fun to do but also inspire and ignite the winning spirit in everyone. The destination estate will soon unveil the 20-storey-high public art installation dubbed as “The Victor,” designed by Filipino-American visual artist Jefrë Manuel Figueras. This iconic structure will rise next to their landmark 200-meter bridge connecting Quezon City and Pasig City.
“Our mission is to build beyond buildings, to nurture a community and espouse a lifestyle conducive for people to live-work-play-inspire,” GoBio adds.
Bridgetowne is a 32-hectare masterplanned Destination Estate of the Gokongwei Group’s Robinsons Land, one of the Philippine’s leading property developers. It is a fully-integrated development that espouses the live-work-play-inspire lifestyle within a green, sustainable community that will feature a dynamic mix of retail, commercial, offices, hospitality and residential developments. Bridgetowne is a destination that ignites the winning spirit and bridges powerful and meaningful connections that let you win at work and in life.
