MANILA, Philippines—Some of the biggest personalities in the country will take part in the wedding of Olympic gold medalist Hidilyn Diaz and fiancé Julius Naranjo.
Former Vice President Leni Robredo, who is one of the wedding’s principal sponsors, leads the star-studded list.
Diaz and Naranjo personally paid Robredo a visit to invite her, as per the many-time Olympian’s manager Noel Ferrer.
Boxing legend and former senator Manny Pacquiao is also among the principal sponsors along with sports and business tycoons Manny V. Pangilinan and Ramon S. Ang as well as Teresita Tan Sy-Coson of SM Investments Corporation.
Philippine Olympic Committee president Abraham Tolentino and PBA chair Ricky Vargas are also part of the wedding entourage.
Actresses Angel Locsin (matron of honor), Judy Anne Santos (principal sponsor) and Iza Calzado (bridesmaid) also have designated roles in the wedding and so does Vicki Belo (principal sponsor).
The wedding takes place at Philippine Military Academy in Baguio on July 26, which is exactly one year since Diaz delivered the Philippines’ first-ever Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo Games.
Diaz and Naranj got engaged last October.
