MANILA, Philippines–The Philippines saw its semifinal hopes disappear after a 3-1 loss to Myanmar on Wednesday in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) U-18 Women’s Championship at Jakabaring Athletic Field in Palembang, Indonesia.

Two goals scored by Myanmar in the first half dashed any hopes of a favorable result for the female booters, who absorbed their second straight setback in Group B.

Jonalyn Lucban’s 87th minute goal gave coach Let Dimzon’s side a small chance, but Hnin Myint Aye completed a brace during injury time to secure the full three points for Myanmar.

Myanmar claimed its second win in as many matches.

The loss came two days after the Philippines was handed a 4-0 defeat by Australia to open the campaign.

The U-18 squad wraps up its stint on Friday against Malaysia at Jakabaring Stadium.
