Philippines wraps up AFF U18 Women’s campaign with loss to Malaysia
The Philippines ended its campaign in the Asean Football Federation (AFF) U-18 Women’s Championship with a 2-1 loss to Malaysia on Friday at the Jakabaring Stadium in Palembang, Indonesia.
Bella Flanigan scored in the second half after trailing 2-0 at the half but the Filipina booters couldn’t salvage a draw, thus ending their campaign by losing all three matches in Group B.
Coach Let Dimzon’s side began its campaign with a 4-0 loss to Australia before bowing 3-1 to Myanmar.
Two goals by Malaysia’s Najwa Irdina inside the first eight minutes made it hard for the Philippines to end its campaign on a high note.
A goal from Flanigan in the 52nd minute to make things interesting but the equalizer eluded the Philippines until the final whistle.
Flanigan and Chantelle Maniti took part in the campaign shortly after being part of the country’s historic title run in the AFF Women’s Championship at the Rizal Memorial Stadium
