NBA: JaMychal Green joins Warriors because he couldn’t say no to Steve Kerr
JaMychal Green was not supposed to join the Golden State Warriors, planning to sign somewhere else. Until he got a call from coach Steve Kerr and Draymond Green.
The 32-year-old forward bared during his introductory press conference how he ended up signing with the Warriors, who ruled the 2021-22 NBA Season.
“Honestly, I didn’t see myself being here at first. I was getting ready to go somewhere else,” said Green in a video tweeted by Warriors NBCS. “I was in Jamaica and I get a call from Steve Kerr. After talking to him, I just couldn’t tell him no. With the organization and what they’ve built over there, just felt that I would love to be a part of it.”
The 6-foot-8 forward, who spent the last two years with the Denver Nuggets, had a change of heart when Kerr made him feel that the seven-time NBA champion team, which won four of the last seven seasons, needed him.
“He just told me they were interested, that they wanted me here, they wanted me to be a part of the program,” he said.

Draymond Green also helped in recruiting the Alabama native.
“I got on the phone with Draymond, we talked for a good minute. We’ve been knowing each other since 8th grade, so it wasn’t a hard decision. You come here and handle business, you can set yourself up for life,” Jamychal shared
Green and with fellow newcomer Donte DiVincenzo are set to plug in the holes left by Gary Payton II, Otto Porter Jr., and Juan Toscano Anderson, who transferred to different teams after winning a championship.
