PBA D-League: Marinerong Pilipino books semis berth

MANILA, Philippines–Marinerong Pilipino advanced to the PBA D-League’s Aspirants’ Cup semifinals after trouncing Centro Escolar University, 75-66, at Smart Araneta Coliseum on Friday.

Marinerong Pilipino ended its two-game losing skid in a big way, setting up a semis duel against top-seeded Apex Fuel-San Sebastian College-Recoletos Stags.

Arvin Gamboa unloaded a clutch triple put the game beyond reach, 68-56, in the dying minutes.

“We really had a problem when our players were not healthy so we’re happy that we’re complete today,” Marinerong Pilipino head coach Yong Garcia said.

De La Salle University standout Jollo Go and University of the Philippines’ Juan Gomez de Liaño both scored 17 points in their win.

Adrian Nocum registered a double-double to help Marinero with 12 markers and 10 rebounds.

Jhomel Ancheta’s 12 points and Lenard Santiago’s 11/11 game were not enough to fuel the Scorpions to snatch the win.
