MANILA, Philippines—De La Salle University took advantage of an error-plagued Lyceum, 88-65, in Group B of the FilOil-EcoOil Preseason Cup at San Juan Arena on Sunday.

The Green Archers banked on their stingy defense which caused major problems for the Pirates.

“We forced them into [having] turnovers. We were focused on a number of things today and one of them was not letting them run the play on offense,” DLSU head coach Derrick Pumaren said after his team rose to 3-0.

Facing constant pressure from the Archers, the Pirates turned the ball over 22 times.

La Salle also outscored Lyceum in the paint, 58-30.

Four Archers notched double-digit scoring with Michael Phillips scoring 14, Joaquin Manuel and Kevin Quiambao tallying 14 each and Raven Cortez adding 10.

The Pirates, who trailed by as many as 27, dropped to 3-1. Mclaude Guadana paced Lyceum with a game-high 19 points built on five triples.
