Bago City, Negros Occidental secured a third place finish in the Junior League Softball World Series after a 3-0 victory over Las Vegas, Nevada on Sunday (Manila time) in Kirkland, Washington.

Althea Key Palzario struck out eight in a complete-game shutout as Bago City ended its campaign on a bright note after losing in the semifinals to Irmo, South Carolina, the other day.

The Negrense batters scored all three runs in the fourth inning with Christine Jane Caracas breaking the ice with an RBI single that scored Daniela Bejos from second base.

Bago City made its way to the quarterfinals after placing third in Pool A with a 2-2 record before defeating Columbus, Texas in the quarterfinals.

But the title hopes of the Philippine Series champion and Asia-Pacific Regional representatives ended with a 6-4 defeat to Irmo in the semis.

In the Senior League division held in Lower Sussex, Delaware, Bago City edged past Palmdale, California, 6-5, in a consolation match between two teams that were eliminated in the quarters.

An error by Palmdale shortstop Yadira Montes off a groundball by Clarina Eder allowed Kenchi Tan to score the winning run for Bago City with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and final frame.
