MANILA, Philippines—Kiefer Ravena has signed a contract extension with the Shiga Lakes ahead of the 2022-23 Japan B.League season.

Shiga announced the development on Monday. The new B.League season tips off in October.

The Gilas Pilipinas star expressed his excitement to play his second season with the Lakes, formerly Lakestars.

“Konichiwa Shiga Lakes Boosters! I’m excited to be back and play for you guys once again,” read Ravena’s statement. “This will be a great season for us and I know the boosters will have fun supporting the team this year. I hope to see you guys soon! Go Lakes!”

The 28-year-old guard averaged 13.2 points, 5.9 assists, and 2.5 rebounds in 56 games in his first season in Japan. He was a starter in 26 of those games for Shiga.

During Ravena’s first season, Shiga finished with a 14-43 record, placing 20th in the 22-team field.

With the B.League in its offseason, the 6-foot guard was called up for Gilas Pilipinas duty in the 31st Southeast Asian Games last May, the third window of the Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers and the Asian Cup.

Ravena also expressed his intention to play for NLEX in the 2022 Philippine Cup but the plan didn’t push through.
