MANILA, Philippines — Despite the coaching changes after Aldin Ayo’s resignation, Chooks-to-Go 3×3 team is keeping its focus on gaining more points by joining more competitions to qualify for the Paris Olympics in 2024.
Ayo, who was appointed as head trainer two years ago, resigned from his post saying he to take care of his ailing mother. But a week after stepping down the multi-titled collegiate coach was named Converge’s new head coach in the PBA.
Team owner and company chief Ronald Mascariñas said they are “moving on” and focusing on their goal with Chico Lanete taking over as the interim head trainer of the team.
The team is looking to add tall and skilled players and a foreign consultant and assistant coaches to help Lanete.
“We are currently in the process of adding more players to our pool and giving Coach Chico everything he needs as our leader,” said Mascariñas in a statement. “This will not stop us in our mission of gaining valuable FIBA 3×3 points for the country in hopes of making it to the Paris Olympics in 2024.”
Chooks to Go is set to a couple of Super Quests and Fiba 3×3 Cebu Masters and other international tournaments this year.
Mascariñas is set to meet the team members, composed of Mac Tallo, Zach Huang, Chico Lanete, Dennis Santos, Brandon Ramirez, Ken Holmqvist, Dave Ando, Mike Nzeusseu, and Henry Iloka, this weekend.
“We are not going anywhere,” said Mascariñas. “We do not see it as a setback. We will continue to take good care of our players and give them everything they need as they continue their journey in the global FIBA 3×3 pro circuit.”
