PBA D-League: Marinerong Pilipino, EcoOil-La Salle set up finals showdown

MANILA, Philippines—Marinerong Pilipino will take on EcoOil-La Salle in a best-of-three Finals in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup starting Sunday.

The Green Archers were the first to punch their ticket to the D-League finals after dealing Adalem-St. Clare a 23-point beating, 97-74.

In contrast, the Skippers had to gut out a win over a feisty Apex Fuel-San Sebastian, 69-64, in the second game.

Marinerong Pilipino relied on former Fighting Maroon, Juan Gomez de Liaño with 23 points. AC Soberano finished with 14.

In a losing effort, Romel Calahat towered over other Stags with 19 points.

EcoOil-La Salle, meanwhile, banked on CJ Austria who scored a game-high 26 points while Gilas cadet Kevin Quiambao registered 16. Mike Phillips also scattered 14 for the Green Archers in the win.

John Rojas led the Saints with 17 markers while former UST Growling Tiger Joshua Fontanilla finished with 16.

The PBA D-League Finals will begin on Sunday, 12 p.m. at Smart Araneta Coliseum. Game 2 on Wednesday, 12 p.m. at the same venue.

A game three (if necessary) will be held next Sunday.
