MANILA, Philippines—Rising Filipino Jade Bornea outclassed Ivan Meneses of Mexico in their super flyweight bout on Saturday in La Paz, Mexico.

The undefeated Bornea showed why he’s the number one IBF contender by stopping Meneses in the seventh round.

Bornea (18-0, 12KOs) ended the fight after connecting on a right to the head followed by a shot to the body as Meneses suffered the 23rd loss of his career with 19 wins.

The 27-year-old Bornea is next in line for a world title shot after he made quick work of Mohammed Obbadi of Morroco last January.

The IBF belt is currently held by Argentina’s Fernando Martinez, who scored a stunning upset over Filipino star Jerwin Ancajas last February.

Martinez and Ancajas are set for a rematch on October 8.
