Lapid files resolution commending PH delegation in Skate Asia 2022

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Manuel “Lito” Lapid has filed a resolution urging the Senate to congratulate and commend the Philippine delegation’s performance at the Skate Asia 2022 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Lapid recognized the 13 members of the Philippine team who bagged awards in the said competition, which ran from August 6-14.

Based on the resolution, the Philippines garnered a total of 45 awards in the competition – 28 gold, 13 silver, and four bronze medals.

“The exemplary performance of the entire Philippine delegation deserves the highest praise, recognition, and commendation for bringing pride and inspiration to the Filipino people and for showing to the world the unrelenting spirit of Filipino sports excellence,” Lapid said in his resolution.

The country’s official squad consists of members Erphy Claire Mckenzie, Dawn Jasmine Gothong, Stacia Katherine Lee, Jodi Catherine Dino, Anicka Shanel Tan, Eriana Ericka Tan, Shekinah Vianne Angeles, Caitlin Geci Cos, Sophia Vielle Triste, Nadine Adrianna How Ong, Nicole Alessandra How Ong, Elisha Rae Villanueva, and Natasha Alisson How Ong.

Skate Asia is an annual ice skating competition held in different Asian cities under the supervision of Ice Skating Institute Asia.

Lapid also filed a similar resolution for the “outstanding performance” of Filipino athletes in the 31st Southeast Asian Games held in Hanoi, Vietnam, last May. — Christian Paul Dela Cruz, trainee
