MANILA, Philippines—The UAAP Season 85 comes off wraps on October 1, the league announced Tuesday.

Adamson hosts the 85th season with the theme “Rise as One.” It will be the second UAAP season in a year.

“After the last UAAP Season made us ‘Fully Alive and created Champions for Life,’ UAAP Season 85 is hoping to call the entire community to Rise As One,” UAAP Season 85 president Fr. Aldrin Suan said.

“It’s been two years since the COVID-19 pandemic happened and has yet to end. Together, we are looking to rise as a nation, helping build a better future for a brighter tomorrow.”

The UAAP will release its events calendar later this month with the league looking to revert back to its pre-pandemic years after several events were halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our student-athletes have been waiting for their moment, some yet to return to the playing field since 2019,” Suan said.

“As we get back to normalcy, we will be going back to the ‘original’ days of the UAAP pre-pandemic which is holding our televised games on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. This season, we are also not just looking to have accomplished a ‘good hosting year’ for Adamson University but begin traditions that will be passed on from host to host for seasons to come.”

The league will also continue its partnership with Cignal TV to televise its games.

In Season 84, University of the Philippines ended its 36-year title drought after dethroning Ateneo in a thrilling men’s basketball finale while National University made history of its own by claiming its first women’s volleyball crown in 65 years.
